NIU Drops Field Associate
The Network Interface Unit (NIU) Build team is all about focusing on the user. You will be a professional, experienced, and driven field associate supporting the NIU drops program and vendor managers in the Fiber Deployment team. This role will require you to have strong relationships with internal stakeholders across multiple functions, and drive operational performance by supporting a high performing vendor operations team, so that Google can get the best speed and efficiency in our last mile deployment of Google Fiber. You will be a top performer and thought leader who will quickly adapt and respond to changes as well as internal initiatives, and someone who thrives in an ever-changing, fast-growing operational environment. Top 3 Daily Responsibilities:
Support the management of overall performance of operations vendor workforce in terms of quality, cost, schedule, and customer service
Coordinating the make-ready engineering and make-ready construction process for Google Fiber service drops
Perform construction ride-outs (CROs) to support quality initiatives, troubleshoot issues, and perform constructability reviews
Help to identify and eliminate roadblocks to service drops installation progress
Provide technical advice and insight on improvements to existing operations based on strong industry expertise in FTTH projects
Assist in the scheduling of NIU service drop work
Interface with cross-functional teams to resolve quality, cost, schedule, and customer service issues
Resolve escalations originating from both internal and external sources
Ensure service drop installation tickets are properly assigned, tracked, and resolved
Oversee the collection and management of as-built documentation
Interface with other Google Fiber vendors that impact service drop operations
Assist in the creation of planning and reporting documentation
Ensure vendors comply with contractual terms and conditions
BA/BS Degree or in lieu of degree overall 8 years of relevant work experience
5 years experience in FTTH (Fiber-to-the Home) field operations
3 years FTTH project management experience
Experience interfacing with pole owners and utility companies
Experience coordinating with city/locality permitting offices
Subject matter expertise in OSP FTTH deployments with experience in service drop installations
Nice to Have Skills:
PMP or PgMP certification.
Experienced in using, navigating, and reporting from a geographic information system (GIS)
Experience with existing FTTH service drop vendors. Excellent analytical qualities to monitor/review vendors’ financial and operational performances.
Strong technical aptitude with existing productivity tools and ability to quickly learn new technologies and software tools
Primavera P6 or equivalent scheduling experience
Experience working within a ticketing system
Strong analytical and solution oriented background skills with great people skills. Strong analytical and structured problem solving capabilities.
Exceptional leadership, management, communication and collaboration skills.
Excellent presentation/communication skills to ensure vendors thoroughly understand their contractual requirements.
