Cable Maintenance Technician Duties included are but not limited to; you must be able to “Resistive Fault Locate” by using a test meter such as a Dynatel 965 or equivalent, this will entail getting precise distance to fault readings and strap to fault readings in feet. The Candidate must have experience in fault locating in aerial, buried and underground cable this includes lead cable. You must be able to fault locate by using a signal generator, an amplifier and coil (hand coil or stick coil) examples of this would a Tone Arc or Tone Ranger. A pre-job phone interview will be given prior to background and drug test and a skills test will be given at the first day orientation to insure these requirements are met. Cable Splicer/Maintainer:Experienced in Copper Cable Splicing for Construction and Maintenance and experience with 3M (MS square modules) splicing system as well as AMP gun with third hand. Must be able to interpret Telecom Engineering Drawings(Prints). Must have the ability to count cable groups and pairs by following standard splicing color codes. Job requires a truck, van, or bucket truck with complete Underground/Aerial Tool Package, personal safety equipment and necessary splicing tools. Candidates must be FULLY truck and tooled. Preferably bucket truck.
